About This Deal
Botox (short for Botulinum Toxin Type A) is the world’s most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment. It is a "neuromodulator" designed to temporarily relax the muscles that cause wrinkles, resulting in a smoother, more refreshed appearance.
Choose from:
- 20, 40, or 60 Units
How It Works: The "Signal Blocker"
When you frown, squint, or laugh, your nerves send a signal (acetylcholine) to your muscles to contract. Over years of repeating these expressions, lines become "etched" into the skin.
- Muscle Relaxation: Botox is injected in tiny amounts into specific muscles. It blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscle.
- The Result: The muscle relaxes, and the skin overlying that muscle softens. Existing lines fade, and new ones are prevented from forming.
Common Treatment Areas
While Botox is versatile, it is most commonly used in the upper third of the face:
- Glabellar Lines: The "11s" between the eyebrows.
- Crow’s Feet: The fine lines at the outer corners of the eyes.
- Forehead Lines: The horizontal rows that appear when you raise your eyebrows.
- Advanced Areas: It can also be used for "bunny lines" (nose), "smoker's lines" (lips), or to slim the jawline (Masseter Botox).
Longevity and Maintenance Botox is not permanent. The body naturally metabolizes the protein over time.
- How long it lasts: Typically 3 to 4 months.
- Maintenance: To maintain a smooth look, most patients schedule "tweakments" three to four times a year.
