The cupping was interesting, and the massage was a 7/10
Zen Day Spa has a nice, minimalistic "zen" design and atmosphere. My massage was really good but my issue was with comfort. The room was freezing and I was wearing only underwear and underneath a thin sheet. My technician kept walking out of the room and leaving the door half open, which is not very considerate to the client who is in an undressed state, and also continued to bring in a draft to an already chilly room.
My facial was decent but again, the basics weren't attended to. I've had several facials and it's customary to ask the client what issues they're having with their skin in order to guide the product usage and what is done during the facial. I'm sure it was a basic facial because of the cost but also, I don't know what kind of facial I had because the technician, while very nice, never said what she was doing. It felt like a lot of cleaning and again, tepid temperature water. Warm water would have been more soothing. The steam machine was a nice contrast to the temperature in the room but same applies, the technician left the room a few times to get other supplies but didn't close the door so the room got even cooler. At the end of my massage, she put a sheet mask on my face, which is something I can (and do) do at home. I would expect a higher end product usage at a spa or at least tell me what you're using and why??? I never saw the products used on my skin because the technician came in with her items in a basket, got started with no conversation, then simply announced "we're done now" and left with her basket. She could've been using Neutrogena for all I know! I just thought it was strange.
When I first arrived, I did ask the front desk manager what products were used and he just said that she will use skincare products and add a mask... There was no accounting for any allergies I might have or addressing my skincare concerns.
I tipped both technicians regardless because I always tip on services unless the providers are rude but I have to say, I would not return just based on my needs not really being addressed at all. I was unfamiliar with this spa and trusted their write up. This may very well suit others but I need more personal attention and comfort during a massage or facial.
