About Elizabeth

Iliana Regan, a once-underground chef, made a name for herself by hosting elaborate supper-club dinners, which showed off early prototypes of the "New Gatherer cuisine" she would eventually execute at Elizabeth.

Iliana's steady stream of cult followers swelled to a raging rapid upon opening her restaurant, sweeping up every food critic and critical foodie who crossed its current. Since its start in 2012, Elizabeth has already racked up a Michelin star three years running, as well as three stars from the Chicago Tribune. Iliana herself has been nominated as a Best Chef by the James Beard Foundation and dubbed the queen of Midwestern cuisine by Chicago magazine. "Iliana Regan is Alice," the Tribune wrote. "The fields and farms where she forages for ingredients comprise her Wonderland. We are along for the ride, and it behooves us not to be late."

In fact, you literally can't be late. Elizabeth's ticket-based system requires guests to choose a specific seating time. Despite the rigid logistics, upon (punctual) arrival, parties are rewarded with a multi-course meal that's liberally whimsical, indulgently fun. Menu themes might be as broad as "fall" or as defined as "fairy tale"; either way, guests won't much know what they're in for until each dish is presented. Past adventures have included placing prosciutto-wrapped mussels directly into diners' hands and serving a teacup of mushroom stock with a side of Jefferson Airplane's "Go Ask Alice" on a portable speaker. (Yes, really.) Whatever tasting journey people end up embarking on, it'll definitely be worth writing home (or food-blogging) about.
