Downtown Boston: Revolution-Era Landmarks and Modern Skyscrapers

Downtown Boston is home to one of the country’s wackiest city layouts. Its colonial-village lanes converge, split, and take hairpin turns, creating a maze of cobblestone that, though frustrating for drivers, makes for a fun walking experience. If you’re visiting for the first time, the best way to navigate the area is to follow the 2.5-mile-long Freedom Trail, which takes you past 16 historical landmarks, including Paul Revere’s home, Old North Church (of “One if by land, two if by sea” fame), and Faneuil Hall. You can use Boston public transportation to explore the city if you tire of walking.

Since the area is also the city’s financial district, centuries-old fixtures share sidewalk space with modern 40-story office towers. You’ll find suit-clad professionals grabbing lunch on Washington Street, which is lined with street vendors and flower shops. Downtown is also where you’ll find several of the city’s quirkier neighborhoods, such as the Leather District. With its rustic warehouses, the neighborhood is the closest example of what the business center looked like in the 1800s.

The room was nice and clean. The staff was EXTREMELY rude. I only checked in/out but they deff showed they did not want to be there. I booked executive king and they said it was a reg double, when I said it wasn’t she didn’t even want to look at the computer to confirm her mistake. Instead of saying sorry she just gave me another room after I pulled my email. What saved for me was the heated pool

The best thing was the convenience. There's a door to the hotel in the parking garage once you get your key. You can also valet. It's only a quick walk to TD Garden and the North End.

This property is in a great location! It’s right across the street from Mass General Hospital and several great restaurants. The staff was very friendly, and my room was very clean. I was a little surprised there was no refrigerator in the room but we worked around it. And the bed was comfortable, and the linens were very nice.

Very disappointed in the room… it had tiles falling off in the bathroom, the toilet seat was so loose I was afraid I would fall off, wall paper peeling off the wall, the shower was stained and the water backed up so I stood in water while showering. It was a very outdated hotel. We complained to corporate and all we got was sorry, not what one would expect from “Wyndham” & not even we will provide feedback to that hotel manager. I’ve always been pleased with this chain, but I believe I’m done.
