Passport & Entry

Valid passport is required for travel to New Zealand. Visit the US Department of State New Zealand travel page for destination-specific validity requirements and current entry/exit information before your trip.

US citizens must obtain a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) and pay the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) before travel. Apply online at the New Zealand Immigration NZeTA portal prior to departure.

Flights

Cabin class: Basic Economy. This itinerary includes two overnight flights (outbound and return) plus one included one-way economy flight from Christchurch (CHC) to Rotorua (ROT). Flights arrive into Queenstown (ZQN); return flights depart from Auckland (AKL). Airfare includes carrier and government taxes & fees. Baggage fees vary by carrier and are not included in the Groupon price.

International Date Line: Travelers will arrive in New Zealand approximately two days after departing the US due to crossing the International Date Line. The return flight from Auckland arrives in the US the same day of departure.

Car Rental

Two automatic rental car periods are included: Queenstown (downtown pickup, Day 3) to Christchurch Airport (Day 7 drop-off), and Rotorua Airport (Day 7 pickup) to Auckland Airport (Day 11 drop-off). Both rentals include full insurance coverage and 24-hour roadside assistance.

Please note: Hotel car parking fees are not included in the Groupon price and must be settled directly with each hotel at the time of your stay.

Currency

New Zealand: New Zealand Dollar (NZD). Currency exchange services are available at airports, banks, and exchange bureaus throughout the country.

Language

New Zealand: English and Te Reo Māori are both official languages. English is the primary language spoken throughout the country.

No — purchasing the voucher does not book your trip. Purchasing a Groupon voucher entitles you to book a ‘Limited Time Offer’ vacation package at a rate specifically discounted for Groupon customers. After buying, follow the instructions in the How To Book section. Complete the steps as soon as possible to secure your preferred dates.

Not all dates are offered at the Groupon rate. Check the Great Value Vacations deal page to see eligible dates. If your preferred date isn’t available at the Groupon price, you may need to pay any additional amount at Great Value Vacations’ checkout or adjust your travel dates. Note that June 2 – July 14, 2026 and December 12, 2026 – January 14, 2027 are blackout dates and not available at the Groupon price.

On the partner’s checkout page, simply select the month of travel that includes your preferred departure date. You will then be presented with a calendar showing available dates and corresponding rates. Select the date that works for you and at the payment page you will be asked to provide your Groupon voucher code. If the date you selected is more than the Groupon voucher amount, you can pay the difference with a credit card.

Yes — you can fly from any available airport, not just the ones listed on Groupon. Simply select any departure airport on Groupon and then change to your preferred departure airport at the merchant’s checkout, apply your Groupon voucher, and the system will adjust the vacation package price accordingly.

Yes — your Groupon voucher is not tied to a specific traveler.

Your voucher is fully refundable to your original payment method or as Groupon Bucks until you submit your voucher to the merchant or within 3 days of purchase, whichever comes first. After 3 days and until the deal expiry (“Book by”) date, refunds for unredeemed vouchers are issued as Groupon Bucks. Once the deal has expired, vouchers are no longer eligible for a refund; however, amount paid never expires. Once your booking is confirmed with the merchant, it is fully non-refundable and non-transferable unless you purchase the optional Travel Protection Plan at the time of booking. All cancellations are subject to penalties unless Great Value Vacations’ Travel Protection Plan is purchased — see Great Value Vacations’ Terms & Conditions for full details.
