About Armor All

In 1962, chemist Joe Palcher came up with a polymer that could protect rubber, plastic, and vinyl from the effects of sun exposure and grime. His discovery quickly found its way to … a shelf in his lab, seemingly destined to be forgotten. Four years later, however, a local auto-shop owner convinced Palcher to bottle and sell it as Tri-don (“no dirt” spelled backward). Automotive enthusiasts went nuts, their interiors finally gleaming with little effort. One enthusiast loved it so much that he later bought Joe’s company and gave Tri-don the more market-savvy name of Armor All Protectant.
