Fenway and Hattie Up to New Tricks by Victoria J. Coe
This book is narrated from the viewpoint of Fenway, the Jack Russell terrier. His two jobs include protecting his short human—Hattie and his human family. That task proves to be challenging when thieving chipmunks appear. His heroic chase causes him to land in a bush filled with bees. Injured, Fenway is taken by his humans to the Place of Fear and is given the Cone of Doom. The pup cannot understand why his family is doing such things to him. He starts doubting if Hattie still loves him. Nevertheless, Fenway knows he must keep protecting his humans and do everything in his power to make them all happy.
