The Scouting Report
The 2014 South Atlantic League regular season comes to a close on Labor Day, when the Hagerstown Suns clash with the Lakewood Blueclaws. All season, the Suns have been neck-and-neck with the division-leading Greensboro Grasshoppers, even posting an identical record in the first half only to lose an early ticket to the postseason on account of a losing head-to-head record. The Grasshoppers are again out front in the second half of the season as well—which actually bodes well for the Suns, who would take the division wild card slot if the records stand, not that the Suns want to start merely treading water or sending in body doubles. They’d love to overtake Greensboro and bring home an outright second-half victory—an outcome that could come down to the final game against Lakewood before a rowdy home crowd at Municipal Stadium to cap off the holiday weekend.

About Hagerstown Suns
The Hagerstown Suns—the Class-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals—have spent more than three decades regaling fans at Municipal Stadium. That's a long time for a minor league team to stay in one place, but it's just a blink of the eye for one of the nation's oldest minor-league ballparks. Municipal Stadium was built in 1930 in a span of six weeks, just in time for the start of the season that year. Today, the team showcases a roster of rising baseball stars trying to hit and field their way to the next level.
