About Hope's Land of Candy
Mother-daughter duo Hope and Joan Cohen have always shared a love of sweet treats, but when they opened Hope's Land of Candy, they didn't want it to be just another candy store. Instead, they created a lens into the past with a shop that mirrors a classic 19th century soda and candy shop. Read: dark wood shelves lined with more than 150 types of old-school candies, including licorice pipes and Bonomo's Turkish taffy, that are hard to find in 21st century shops.
Meanwhile, at their old-fashioned counter, they hand-mix sodas with syrups ranging from bubble gum to sarsaparilla to caramel and pour creamy, extra-thick milkshakes in flavors like butter pecan and mint chocolate chip. They even carry specialty items for those with restricted diets, including sugar-free chocolates and candies and dairy-free ice cream.
