How It Works
FAQs
How do I know if I’m a candidate — and what if I’m not?
Your free consultation is the only way to know for sure. Most healthy adults 18+ with a stable prescription qualify; chronic dry eye, thin corneas, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, pregnancy, or nursing are common reasons LASIK is delayed or not recommended. If you’re not cleared, your Groupon is refunded in full and no service is performed.
Does my insurance cover this?
No — LASIK is elective, and most insurance plans don’t cover it. This Groupon is not valid with insurance. HSA and FSA funds are typically eligible — check with your plan administrator if you’re unsure.
How long is recovery?
Most patients return to work within 1 to 3 days. The first 4 to 6 hours can feel itchy or sandy — this passes quickly. Vision is blurry for the first 24 to 48 hours and continues to sharpen over the following days. Halos or glare at night are common in the first weeks and usually resolve.
Will I get 20/20 vision?
The American Academy of Ophthalmology reports that more than 90% of LASIK patients achieve 20/20 to 20/40 vision. Individual results depend on the starting prescription and your eye anatomy — the team will discuss realistic expectations at consultation.
Does it hurt?
Anesthetic drops numb your eyes before the procedure. Most patients describe what they feel as pressure rather than pain. The laser portion lasts under a minute per eye; total procedure time is about 10 minutes per eye.
Should I buy the One Eye or Both Eyes option?
Most patients have LASIK on both eyes at the same time — that’s the standard. The One Eye option is for patients who’ve already had LASIK on one eye, or whose other eye doesn’t need correction. If you’re unsure, ask at consultation.
Can I drive myself home after surgery?
No. Your vision will be blurry and you cannot drive after the procedure. You must arrange a ride home before your appointment.
What if I have very thin corneas or play contact sports?
LASIK may not be the right procedure for you. PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) is an alternative that suits thinner corneas and people in activities with eye-injury risk. The team will discuss whether LASIK, PRK, or another option fits your eyes at consultation.
