Let me start with that the massage itself was outstanding and my back feels 5x better. I highly recommend Nicole if you are getting a massage here. She asked a number of times during the massage to check it was okay and had great pressure. She even threw in a "free upgrade" to hot stones (see qualm #3 for why this is in quotes).
My qualms are with their business practices. Which includes 1) selling/advertising DURING the massage, 2) no intake form or conversation ahead of time, and 3) misleading Groupon deals. The combination of ALL 3 of these things is what led me to a 3 star rating instead of 4 or 5 stars.
1) So, yes, it was the last 5 minutes of my massage, but instead of enjoying the last few minutes, I was told about the massage package and the free facial that came with it and asked if I ever had a facial. We hadn't been talking before this, so it was quite jarring to suddenly have conversation and advertising thrown at me. I tried to politely turn it down, but she continued and even expected me to be purchasing it when I was checking out to leave a tip.
2) There was no discussion about what brought me in, problem areas, injuries, desired pressure, or allergies (she used gloves, which I assume are latex). The only question she asked when we were about to start was if I was referred by a friend, which could have easily been on a form or waited until after. I will note that during the massage she did check in about pressure multiple times, which I appreciated.
3) The Groupon told me the service was 50% off: originally $145 and my price was around $72. I noticed that most of the 60 min massage services listed on their in-store board were $70-80 though. I checked their website after and saw the exact massage I had, except for 90 minutes, was listed at $105 (not 145+). In the end, I may have not overpaid, but I certainly wasn't getting the deal they advertised.
Again, each of these things individually wouldn't lead me to a 3 star rating, but the combination make me plan to take my business elsewhere in the future
