Business owner ended up cancelling the cruise because of supposed bad weather, which made little sense to us. It was a bright and beautiful sunny day! When I called to ask him for an email confirmation of this cancellation and the refund he promised verbally over the phone, he was extremely rude, ultimately hanging up on me. He kept saying that he was unwilling to send an email because "he wasn't in front of a computer." Keep in mind that I was not unreasonably asking him to send me an email that very minute, but rather whenever was most convenient for him. Moreover, he told me they had now moved into the off-season and so he wouldn't be willing to deal with my simple request to receive a receipt of the refund until March of next year (over 4 months later)! So, well I can't speak to the quality of the cruise itself (since they never ended up taking us out on the water), I can say that the customer service was horrendous, and it certainly turned me off from considering a tour with them in the future. To be fully transparent, I ended up following up my phone call to the business owner with an email, in which I once again politely asked for a written receipt of the refund issued that I could keep for my records. He never personally responded to my email, but at least I ultimately received a system-generated refund receipt (which was all I was looking for in the first place).

My family and I had an amazing time. The crew was knowledgeable, energetic, and showed a true passion for their job. I would recommend this day trip to anyone. We will definitely be back in the spring to see theses beautiful whales again.

About Orcas Wild

Orcas sit at the absolute top of the food chain, causing even sharks to rattle in their fins whenever they’re near one. There’s a lot more to these fascinating creatures than their status as apex predators, though, and Orcas WILD is on a mission to make sure people know that. That’s why they’ve worked alongside non-profit organizations to put together an assortment of interactive exhibits and installments that educate the public on the fascinating lifestyles, habitats, and Netflix preferences of those incredibly huge and intelligent sea mammals. Of course, whales aren't the only stars of the show at the learning center—the exhibits also cover marine life, sea birds, environmental stewardship, and other topics related to the local waters.

But the most interactive experience at Orcas WILD isn’t found in any of the exhibits at the on-land wildlife institute—it’s found in the seas themselves. The organization’s naturalist staff regularly lead boat, kayaking, and walking tours to Patos Island, Skull Island, Matia, and other sites that often provide up-close views of the area’s vibrant animals and wildlife, including the namesake whales.
