About This Deal
Looking to learn a unique martial art? Kenjutsu is the traditional Japanese art of swordsmanship practiced by samurai. It's not just about wielding a sword; it’s about discipline, precision, and self-improvement. Get ready to enhance your physical fitness and mental focus through this ancient practice.
What We Offer
You will be learning the Art of Kenjutsu from Master Trainer Jade of the Roninjitsu Shinobi-Ryu.
For all 3 Levels, here are some things needed:
- A wooden or synthetic bokken.
- An iaito (non-sharpened katana) before starting the class.
- A place to practice drawing and movements.
- A place to practice live cutting (outside if possible).
- A stand to place or attach objects for cutting by the second class. This will be discussed during the first session.
- A few decks of cards by the second class. Training will also include cutting various objects, such as water bottles and fruits (details to be announced).
- In Level 3, you may consider purchasing a sharpened katana for personal training, though it is not required. Training will be conducted with the iaito for safety reasons.
Training Overview for the 3 Levels:
Level 1: Begin with an overview of the basics, including the sword, basic draws, cutting techniques, and katas. This level prepares for Level 2 training. At the end of the 8th class, a test will be administered. Upon completion, certification for Level 1 from the Roninjitsu Shinobi-Ryu will be awarded.
Level 2: Focus on developing muscle memory with advanced cuts, drawing techniques, and combat training with a katana. Precision cutting will be introduced, and training will cover traditional weapons and techniques to counter them. This level prepares for Level 3 training. At the end of the 8th class, a test will be given. Certification for Mastering Level 2 from the Roninjitsu Shinobi-Ryu will be awarded upon completion.
Level 3: Advance to more complex cuts, speed, and combat techniques. Refine muscle memory and drawing techniques, and practice blindfolded cutting skills using other senses. At the end of the 8th class, a test will be administered. Upon completion, certification for Mastering Level 3 from the Roninjitsu Shinobi-Ryu will be awarded. About Roninjitsu - Martial Arts Academy
Come learn the Art of kenjutsu from the Roninjitsu Shinobi-Ryu. You will learn to master your blade and aquire a variety of techniques and skills centered around the use of the Japanese sword. Here are some of the key elements typically covered at the Roninjitsu Shinobi-Ryu:
Kata (Forms): Practitioners learn pre-arranged sequences of movements that simulate combat scenarios. These forms help develop muscle memory, precision, and understanding of combat principles.
Striking Techniques: Training includes various types of strikes, such as vertical cuts (shomen), diagonal cuts (kesa-giri), and thrusts (tsuki). Each strike is practiced to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
Defensive Maneuvers: Students learn how to block, parry, and evade attacks. This includes techniques for redirecting an opponent’s blade and counter-attacking.
Footwork (Ashisabaki): Proper footwork is crucial in kenjutsu. Practitioners learn how to move swiftly and efficiently to maintain balance and positioning during combat.
