Massage therapist's name and license:
Hi, I'm Salim Flanigan, my license number is 21986, I specialize in Trigger Point and Deep Tissue massage, not everyone is trained to release trigger points. Trigger Point is one of the most effective forms of massage for pain relief. I help to treat chronic pain, along with anything that is a symptom of myofascial pain (muscles and fascia).
A trigger point is a hyper irritable nodule in the muscle classified by referred pain. They form from repeated contractions in the muscle, and a lack of stretching and/or bad habits. A trigger point is a knot, and can be palpated like one, however a knot is not necessarily a trigger point. A knot only becomes a trigger point when you feel pain else where in your body upon stimulating it.
I have been trained by my father, Kevin Flanigan, who has been a licensed massage therapist for over 15 years. He has been running his own business successfully for the last 14 years, and been licensed for 17. We both work to help people in chronic pain.
Anyone can benefit from massage, people that sit on a desk all day and have back problems, athletes, laborers that have bad knees, gardeners, knitters, veterinarians, doctors, veterans, etc. Myo-fascial pain is very common, most people throughout their lives have had a bad back, or neck, or something else, that has interfered with their lives.
I primarily provide trigger point and deep tissue massage, and want to help people in pain. I love fitness and want to encourage people to take their best step forward in their endeavors with a healthy body. I've also done yoga for many years and can show stretches that can increase quality of life.
