About Table Grace Cafe
You're not likely to find a more socioeconomically diverse crowd in downtown Omaha than the one tucking into lunch at Table Grace Cafe. That's because the nonprofit eatery serves anyone who walks through the door; they then pay what they can or volunteer their time to help out. The food, meanwhile, is attractive to anyone with a palate for gourmet yet unpretentious meals. The menu—which changes from day to day—always features several salads, soups, and whole-wheat pizzas. Think fresh gazpacho with herbed crème fraîche, turkey-bacon ranch pizza, and toasted-pecan quinoa salad.
Cofounder Matt Weber trained at the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City, and he's committed to providing healthy, nutrient-dense food made from local, organic ingredients whenever possible. He and his wife, Simone, who are active in the area's Lutheran community, host spiritual discussions and uplifting concerts at the café. They also operate a job-training program for disadvantaged people who are interested in entering food service.
