Felt like a regular my first night there. The trainers and my training partners were more than helpful in improving my mechanics. This is a fighters gym, expect light sparring every class but at the same time don't be intimidated. No one is going to be trying to knock you out, the sparring is about practicing what you learned that day in a real situation. At the same time it's all about landing the shots, not pulverizing one another. A1 Gym, A1 fighters, A1 workout. Looking forward to training there for the indefinite future.

Used to be a member here for over a year, love this place. If you pay attention and practice what the couches teach you on your own, you’ll become a pretty good fighter.

This is definitely not for the faint of heart. I was only able to attend a few evening Muay Thai classes with David due to my schedule and injuries/illness, so I can't fairly compare all other classes. Classes are very intense and require pretty good stamina to keep up with the pace, I often felt overwhelmed and out of breath with some of the warmups and uncomfortable with the primarily male setup of classes. David was a wonderful and patient instructor despite this, even encouraged me to stay after I left a class early due to not feeling well. Great for serious fighters in training, likely too intense for an average person or a woman.

About Wai Kru

Since ancient times, Thai students, fighters, and artists have performed the wai kru ritual to honor the teachers who make their study possible. Composed of everyone from Navy boxers to championship jujitsu fighters, the staff of martial-arts instructors at Wai Kru gym knows the value of experience. Kru John, for instance, has traveled to Japan, Brazil, and Thailand to hone his muay thai kickboxing expertise, attending more than 20 training camps throughout Asia and earning a certification from the Thai government.

Training guests as diverse as beginning boxers and professional MMA fighters, Wai Kru bolsters training regimens with cardio machines, weights, and open mat space. The gym also sports a boxing ring and a 24-foot octagon, so shaped to avoid having to vacuum peanut shells from a 90-degree corner.
