When Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial in 1963, he determinedly brought our nation’s capital to the center stage amid the Civil Rights Movement. However, the powerful and often untold history of African American civil rights activism, aristocracy, and culture within Washington, DC, predates the contemporary era.

We have curated a one-of-a-kind African American history tour that gives visitors a chance to experience the richness of Washington, DC, through the eyes of our African American compatriots.

During this tour, we guide you through many of Washington, DC’s highlights while considering the significance of the black perspective. Visit the remarkable sites rooted in our nation’s history thanks to the innumerable contributions of freed and enslaved African Americans.

After the tour, you will visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture. We provide access to the museum with reserved timed entry passes!

What am amazing experience. Our tour guide Dre was engaging from start to finish. We took the tour during MLK Weekend and the weather was BRUTAL. Even w/the frigid air we still had a great time. Our AA museum tour was scheduled to start from 1pm but the museum decided to close early (2pm) due to a snowstorm. Not only did the tour company ensure we were able to get in the next day (MLK Day) but they also allowed the tkt to be used until end of yr if we couldn’t make it. Overall great experience and would recommend!

Dre was an amazing and charming tour guide! He had us laughing but also shared SO much important information that most Americans never learn. He has inspired me to continue the learning and bring back the things I have learned to my second grade classroom. Thank you Dre for taking us on your tour of DC, I will definitely recommend to friends!!
