A history buff’s dream, Washington, DC is more than the federal government. It’s more than the monuments and memorials. Thanks to a thriving culinary community and neighborhood clusters of distilleries and breweries, DC is just as much a destination for food and drink as it is for free museums. Discover why visitors are getting steeped in more than history in the nation’s capital with locally made spirits, Michelin-starred restaurants and homegrown flavors.

Whether you’re road tripping or hopping on a train at Union Station, it’s easier than ever to make your way to this city connected by the past but with both feet firmly planted in the future. When you visit The Resolution Region you’ll get a taste of whiskey’s history without having to sacrifice the delicious food, premier attractions and ridiculous coolness of America’s future.

Watch the mighty gears turning and the stones grinding at our Gristmill, where Washington produced flour and cornmeal. Within our functioning distillery, you can see where we make George Washington's whiskey. In 1799, it was one of the largest whiskey distilleries in America. Open to the public from April through October. Tickets are included with general admission.

Visit: One Eight Distilling, 1135 Okie St NE, Washington DC, DC 20002-1622

One Eight Distilling's Sandy Wood and Alex Laufer left their established careers to open a distillery, believing in the heirloom grains of the region, the neighborhood of Ivy City, and each other. After tasting the first batches of Abruzzi rye and malted rye, they realized taking that risk had paid off. The name District Made represents everything that the mid-Atlantic region offers. From traditional grains grown in Maryland and Virginia to the mashing, distillation, aging, and bottling all done in Washington, D.C.

No matter what spirit you choose to enjoy from District Made, each proud pour comes with an exceptional taste thanks to the heart of rye and 'spice box' flavors.
