The Destination
When mapping out Michigan, Saginaw Bay is the body of water separating the thumb from the rest of the mitten. And right in the web of Michigan's hand, about an hour and a half north of Detroit, sits lovely Bay City. Residents here claim that American folk hero Paul Bunyan was based on a local lumberjack. Skeptic or not, you'll soon believe the community's reputation for Midwestern congeniality thanks to all the friendly folks around town. And that's not all Bay City has to offer; update your look with fashions from creative boutiques, stroll hand-in-hand along the Bay County Riverwalk, or cruise Saginaw Bay on an Appledore tall ship.

The Digs
The Historic Webster House was constructed by Thomas E. Webster way back in 1886, but today's innkeepers Frank and Gail Partee keep this elegant home in tip-top shape. Inside, you'll find six individually decorated guest rooms, each with its own unique ambiance and complimentary Wi-Fi. The Signature Room's carved cherry headboard and marble bath embrace a European version of luxury, while the Nodoka Room reflects an Asian aesthetic and offers a whirlpool tub. When you rise each morning, a delicious three-course breakfast will help you shine. You can set out to explore the area, or unwind in the new, private spa and sauna room.

  • "The Historic Webster House is perfect for a romantic getaway. The rooms are beautiful and the area offers tons to do, even within walking distance. The beds were the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in."
