The Destination
Carnival: the festival to end all festivals. It's celebrated throughout Brazil, and even around the world, but nowhere is the party as revelrous as it is in Rio de Janeiro. Here, in the Southern Hemisphere's most-visited city, Carnival is many months in the making, a year-round event that culminates on the Friday before Ash Wednesday and doesn't stop until the following Tuesday. Get some rest—you're gonna need it before attending this five-day festival on a seven-day trip to Rio de Janeiro, courtesy of Friendly Planet Travel. And if you need a few days to rejuvenate before returning to the United States, there's no place like Iguazu Falls to recharge your battery; opt instead for the nine-day trip, which takes guests from Rio to Iguazu Falls and back, and see all the best of Brazil in one fell swoop.
