Wine among the rolling hills of—Kentucky? Welcome to the Napa of the Bluegrass State, home to this charming winery.

The Destination
When it comes to alcohol, we associate Kentucky with bourbon. But the commonwealth's past as a wine region—home, in 1798, to the country's first commercial vineyard—has seen a renaissance in recent years. At the forefront of this resurgence is Elk Creek Vineyards. Situated in the rolling hills of Owenton, about an hour from Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati, this 11-year-old winery is now Kentucky's largest. Not only do guests flock to Elk Creek Vineyards to indulge in delicious reds and whites, they also come to enjoy the bed and breakfast, art gallery, deli, and amphitheater.

The Digs
Elk Creek Vineyards offers a variety of lodging options. Should you choose to stay in a queen room in the Lodge, you'll be treated to a private deck overlooking the vineyard, a private bath, plush linens, and down comforters. The Lodge is also equipped with a gourmet kitchen, dining area, and fireplace. Or, choose to stay at the quaint Inn, which sits on a hill overlooking the property and is appointed with a full kitchen, gas grill, living room, and dining area. The downstairs queen room features a bathroom across the hall, while the two upstairs queen rooms share a bath. Meanwhile, all queen rooms at the Estates offer a private bathroom with rain shower head, private entry, mini-fridge, and coffeemaker. Between the accommodations and the amenities, Elk Creek Vineyards is truly an all-in-one retreat in the heart of this burgeoning wine region.
