Holiday Gifting FAQ

What is LivingSocial gifting & how does it work?

Here at LivingSocial, we want to help make it easy to get great gifts for everyone on your list — without having to deal with holiday crowds. That’s why we have introduced Gifting. Now you can save money when you buy all your gifts early, and wait to give them however you'd like, whenever you'd like! Simply click 'Buy as Gift' on the item or experience you want to gift to someone and follow the steps through checkout. Then your gift can be delivered by email, mail, or you can ship it to yourself and give it in person. It’s that easy!

Currently, our gifting option can only be accessed through the web experience. Stay tuned for the launch of Gifting on the App and through our mobile website! 


What can I buy as a gift on LivingSocial?

Gifts are available year round.  Simply look for  the “Buy as a Gift” button on your experience to confirm the deal can be purchased as a gift. Please note “physical products” are not available for gifting. You can always send a product directly to someone — just note that the item will not include a gift message.


How do I give the gift to my family member or friend?

For voucher based items: During checkout, you will be given the option to email the voucher to the recipient or print the voucher to give to them in person! Email option also includes the ability to select the date on which the gift message is sent.  Gift messages can be personalized.

For Physical Products: Items can be shipped to the recipient’s address or directly to you.  NOTE: Gift messaging is not available for physical products at this time.


Can I choose when the recipient will receive the email?

Of course! You can choose to either send the gift voucher email immediately or choose a specific date for your gift recipient to receive their gift voucher. If you choose a different day it will send at 4:30AM EST on the day you select, so it will be waiting for them when they open their inbox!


Will I receive a confirmation email letting me know the recipient received the gift voucher?

Yes, You will receive a confirmation email when your recipient receives the gift voucher.


Will the recipient know how much I paid for their gift?

The value of the voucher is reflected in the message to your recipient.  The amount paid is only reflected  in the fine print at the bottom of the gift.


Can the recipient trade-in their voucher once they've received it?

Trade-ins are not available at this time.


Can I get a refund?

LivingSocial Events concert and event tickets

You can edit or cancel your order on the day of purchase only. Can’t make the show and want to give your purchase to a friend? Contact us at least 24 hours before the day of the show so we can change the name one the tickets.

LivingSocial Shop merchandise

You can edit or cancel your order for two hour after your purchase. After that, the shipment can’t be stopped. You can return LivingSocial Shop products within 14 days of receiving them, unless the Fine Print states otherwise. Return shipping is free and you can learn more about it here. Returns shipped without using a LivingSocial-provided return label are not eligible for a refund and will be refused.

LivingSocial Escapes trips

If you chose the date of your trip when you purchased your LivingSocial Escapes, you’ll be able to cancel it as long as you’re within the hotel’s cancellation policy by clicking “Cancel” next to the Voucher on your My Vouchers page. If you didn’t choose a date, and the merchant can’t book the stay you want before the book-by date, we’ll refund your purchase. After the book-by date you can still use your LivingSocial Escapes voucher for the price you paid for it. You can learn more here.

LivingSocial Local vouchers

Any unredeemed, unprinted Voucher may be returned for a refund within 3 days after purchase — after 3 days all sales are final, but you can give your Voucher to a friend or family member to use instead (unless the Fine Print specifies otherwise). Even if the promotional value has expired, your voucher is always worth at least the amount you paid for it.


LivingSocial Shipping and Returns

How are LivingSocial Shop items fulfilled?

Everything purchased on the LivingSocial website (other than Voucher deals) is sold and fulfilled by Groupon Goods, Inc. through the Groupon Goods fulfillment network.

How do I get free shipping?

Most purchases of $34.99 or more qualify for free shipping in the U.S. — you can combine multiple lower-priced items in one purchase to qualify. Learn more

Can I edit or cancel shipment?

You can cancel the order or edit the shipping address within 2 hours of your purchase - after 2 hours, the shipment cannot be canceled. After you cancel an order, it will be removed from your My Vouchers page.

When will my item ship?

It may take 3-9 business days for the item to ship and for tracking data to become available. Once your item ships, we’ll send you a shipping confirmation email and you’ll be able to track your package by going to My Vouchers, clicking View Details, and then Track package. Most items are delivered in 7-12 days, but you can check the Fine Print for the estimated delivery.
