On a Mission to Inspire & Educate
This Washington Street exploration station is open daily and packs four levels of interactive exhibits with more than 300 hands-on activities, the state-of-the-art Dorrance Planetarium, and a five-story IMAX theater. You and your family will learn about the solar system, compare different brains, and experience a high-wire physics lesson -- and that's just scratching the surface. Located in the Sybil B. Harrington Galleries, "Lost Egypt: Ancient Secrets, Modern Science," runs from May 31 to September 1, 2014. The exhibition lets kids imagine what it's like to be an archaeologist searching for answers about ancient cultures. They'll see real human and animal mummies, as well as a rare life-size rapid prototype of a mummy in a stage of unwrapping. Through fascinating artifacts and hands-on challenges, they'll learn about how modern science and technology help provide vital insights into the past.
