Watching documentaries on TV is old news -- these days, the real thrill is seeing those lauded historic sites in person. Leave the days of sitting on the couch in the past and check out today's deal from the Noblesville Preservation Alliance: Pay $10 (a $20 value) for two tickets to the group's 26th annual tour of historic homes. Situated just northeast of Indy, Noblesville offers rich history and lovely architecture amid a quaint, vibrant downtown. This year's tour will be Saturday, September 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and features seven private residences and multiple cultural sites -- nine of which are on the city's main thoroughfare and within walking or biking distance of one another. History buffs will love exploring a 1901 house on Maple Avenue that's been in the same family for two generations, as well as the newly restored women's cells in the Old Jail. All proceeds benefit the Noblesville Preservation Alliance -- with the additional boon of some old-fashioned fun for you.
