The Description
The Sonoma County town of Healdsburg is one of California's wine capitals, where the confluence of the Russian River, Dry Creek, and Alexander Valley wine regions ensure the finest vino is within easy reach. The town stands out for preserving a pastoral Sonoma feel despite its stable of cosmopolitain restaurants, shops, and art galleries drawing more visitors by the day. Visitors who prefer to stick close to the action will find plenty at Healdsburg Plaza and the dozen or so tasting rooms within a mile radius of it. For a more scenic tasting experience, follow the winding Dry Creek Road lined with boutique wineries.

The Digs
The Calderwood Inn operates out of the historic John Miller House, a Queen Anne Victorian that was originally built in 1902. Each room is luxuriously appointed with soft bedding, antique furnishings, and period-appropriate design detail. During your stay, you'll sample gourmet cooking at morning breakfast and sip local wine in the evening. For a peaceful afternoon, stroll through the lush landscaped grounds planted with cedar, cypress, and redwood trees, while Koi fin through the nearby fish pond. Or, check out the scene at Healdsburg Plaza, within walking distance of the inn.

  • "The home is a beauty. We stayed in the suite downstairs and had a great time. The breakfasts were great, the wine was better, and the location is close to all the great restaurants in Healdsburg. Healdsburg square is a mere three to five minutes away."
