The Destination
Phuket's long, sandy beaches and limestone cliffs are legendary among sun seekers— stake a claim on your own slice of paradise with a lounge chair and an umbrella drink. For a taste of Thai adventure, climb onto an elephant and trek into Phuket's densely forested interior to wander former rubber plantations. Don't forget to stop by the Phi Phi Islands and see the remote coves and caverns that have served as both movie backdrops and romantic settings.

A plane ride away, Tokyo takes the tempo up a notch with a head-spinning view of the city from the 1,092-foot Tokyo Tower. From the soaring Meiji Shrine to the sparkling shops of Ginza, every sight in this kinetic city seems to be at the center of the action. See the scenic slopes of Mount Fuji and the temple-studded neighborhoods of Kyoto via bullet trains, which spirit visitors into the surrounding countryside.

Whatever pace you prefer, you'll find your groove on a nine-day trip to Phuket and Tokyo, courtesy of Globotours.

The Itinerary
day 1: Board your international flight to Tokyo International Airport from Los Angeles International Airport.

day 2: Fly from Tokyo to Singapore, then catch your connecting flight to Phuket International Airport. Upon arrival in Phuket, you will be driven from the airport to your five-star resort, the Twinpalms Phuket. Your Deluxe Palm Room has beautiful contemporary décor, while the resort itself boasts a huge pool area, a delectable Thai fusion restaurant, and even a gallery where you can purchase products displayed and used in the resort.
Overnight at Twinpalms Phuket.

day 3: After breakfast, set off on an exciting excursion that begins with a drive to an elephant camp in the Chalong Highlands for a chance to ride the elephants and take in the superb island views. While you ride, you'll learn about the training and care of elephants, as well as a local elephant conservation project.

Afterwards, you'll be driven further into the highlands to a local Thai house, where you'll have an opportunity to see a cooking demo on making Thai jungle curry. Then, ride to a rubber plantation to discover how natural rubber is produced and a local farmyard to see buffalo plowing the rice fields. After learning how to harvest and de-husk rice, your memorable tour concludes with a ride on a traditional buffalo cart.
Overnight at Twinpalms Phuket. Breakfast provided.

day 4: This day is yours to spend on your own. If you'd like, you can pay for an optional tour to the Phi Phi Islands. Here, you can go snorkeling, simply admire the scenery, or go exploring in the Viking Cave, a large limestone cavern where ancient rock paintings can be found.
Overnight at Twinpalms Phuket. Breakfast provided.

day 5: Another free day—spend it on Phuket's exquisite beaches with your toes in the sand and a drink in your hand.
Overnight at Twinpalms Phuket. Breakfast provided.

day 6: Ride to the airport for your flight back to Singapore, followed by your return flight to Tokyo. Upon arrival, board the airport limousine bus to the 4.5-star Hilton Tokyo in the Shinjuku ward. Each of the luxury hotel's 630 rooms—all renovated last spring—has a Hilton Serenity bed, LCD TV, MP3 dock, and stunning city views. When you're not out exploring the city, play tennis on the hotel's rooftop court or swim some laps in the indoor pool. The health club is open 24 hours a day—stop by and relax in the sauna, whirlpool, or authentic Japanese bath. And if you'd like to stay in for dinner, there are seven enticing restaurants on the property.
Overnight at Hilton Tokyo. Breakfast provided.

day 7: Board a coach for your tour of the city's famous historical landmarks. You'll see a panoramic view of Tokyo from the main observation platform of the Tokyo Tower before traveling to the peaceful, picturesque Meiji Shrine for a lesson on Japanese architecture.

Once you've driven by the State Guest Houses at Akasaka Palace and the National Diet Building—where both houses of the Diet of Japan meet—you'll enjoy a pleasant walk through the east garden of the Imperial Palace. Visit the palace's inner moat, where 15-foot thick walls and pine trees surround the 250-acre fortress, home of the Emperor and Empress. Your tour ends at the world-famous Ginza District, a posh shopping mecca where some of the world's most luxurious brands make for window shopping at its finest.
Overnight at Hilton Tokyo. Breakfast provided.

day 8: Explore Tokyo on your own. If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle, pay to take a bullet train headed southwest to explore Mount Fuji. Or, travel just east of Fuji to see pristine Lake Ashi and the Mount Komagatake Ropeway, a mile-long aerial tram that provides riders with thrilling views of the surrounding Hakone National Park.
Overnight at Hilton Tokyo. Breakfast provided.

day 9: After breakfast, board the airport limousine bus for the airport, where you'll catch your flight home. Spend the flight thinking back on your unique Escape—or planning your inevitable return trip.
