hotel description

The Destination
Resting on the edge of its namesake bay, where sails match the crests on the water, San Francisco is a city seemingly always poised for a postcard. Its hills, which cluster together neighborhoods of multicolored Victorian homes, are as recognizable as the fog that rolls in at all times of the year. Brave the hills to uncover the city's world-class culinary scene, from the pastas of North Beach to the tacos of the Mission District, and you're sure to discover the city's many personalities as well. Watch the sunset from a perch overlooking one of the city's famed bridges, and then retreat to a barstool to sip an inventive cocktail at a tucked away bar.

The Digs
Amid the exciting pace of San Francisco's famous towering neighborhoods, the Hotel Rex in Lower Nob Hill is as inviting as a good book. Decorated to reflect the city's literary history, the property's common space features a colorful library and several oversized chairs. Guest rooms are outfitted in a traditional theme, including hand-painted lampshades, a writing desk, and gingham drapes, and are accented by the work of local artists. Put a bookmark in your novel and stretch out on your pillow-top mattress, or enjoy a flick on the 32-inch flat-screen TV. Then, sip a glass of complimentary wine at the hotel's nightly reception.

The Diversions
• Have a picnic at Mission Dolores Park
• Rent a row boat at Stow Lake Boathouse inside Golden Gate Park
• Bike across the Golden Gate Bridge with Blazing Saddles
• Have a cocktail with your meal at Cotogna

The hotel is very charming w a very good location. Rooms and elevator are a .little small but overall the hotel was very good. Emphasis on the customer service. The best. I will definitely book this hotel again
pros: Is a cute boutique hotel. Rooms are a little small but they are clean and the beds very comfortable. The staff was super extremely sweet and helpful. The gal at the front desk made me forget how bad my flight was. And she was from palm springs too.
cons: Only thing that's is not even a big issue was the elevator and room a little too small. But I don't need big spaces to feel good.

pros: We loved the character of the hotel!
cons: We had planned to bike around SF using the hotel's bicycles, but the bicycles were out of commission during our stay.
