My trip to Savannah was to enjoy Savannah - the history, architecture, food and overall culture. I was surprised to end up at the 4 star resort when I was naming my price. I have done this before on Priceline and always ended up in the historic area of town. That was what I expected this time. I didn't realize that the Westin across the river was part of that zone. If my purpose was simply to get away for a few days the facility would have been great - tennis, swimming, spa, etc. You could stay there and never leave because everything you would want to do as a destination vacation is there but that was not what I had in mind to do so I never got to the pool, tennis court or did not even see the spa. I love a good spa and hate that there was no time for that but it just was not in my plan. The facilities at the hotel seemed to be really good for those who wanted that experience. I would love that experience somewhere other than Savannah because when I am in that kind of city I am not in resort/spa mode. There is too much to do in the city. I basically slept there and left every day on the ferry and spent very little time there. The staff was ok but just not as friendly as I found other people in Savannah to be. The concierge was not that helpful. My telephone did not work but it did get fixed. The shower was good. The carpet a little worn. I had a lovely view of a gravel roof. I suppose they give Priceline customers the more undesirable rooms - as it turned out I didn't care this time because I was not there very much.
pros: The view of Savannah was lovely - Sun. breakfast was good - ferry service was excellent - it is a destination resort but my intent was to experience the city and not the resort so I did not take advantage of all the amenities -
cons: The staff was not that informed or helpful. I had to check out at 6 am to catch a train and there was NO ONE anywhere to be found in the lobby or front desk area for about 20 min. They charged me for parking a car and I didn't even have a car -

pros: It is a beautiful property and the staff was friendly. The view of Savannah was incredible
cons: Having to take the Ferry to get to the Historic district. If you miss your boat you will have to wait at least 30 minutes to catch another one. On the other hand the Ferry ride is enjoyable just not quick.

I was a little nervous about staying across the river but it ended up being the perfect place for us! The ferry made the trip to River street extremely convenient and scenic. It felt close enough to go into the tourist area any time we wanted but far enough away to still be it's own relaxing oasis. Our favorite part of the hotel was the common area by the pool. Palm trees strung with lights, comfortable seating that promoted mingling with other guests, and little fire pits to keep you comfortable in the river breeze. It was amazing! The beds were extremely comfortable, the rain shower head was a treat, and the room from the view was spectacular!!! The staff was excellent and the food was great too. My husband and I have agreed that we will never stay anywhere else in Savannah. Thanks for an AMAZING trip Westin!
pros: The staff was EXCELLENT! Super friendly and polite. My husband and I have spent years in customer service and have extremely high expectations, very impressed. Best part of the whole trip was time spent in the pool area at night, amazing view of river st!
cons: There was a graduation at the conference center during our stay. This caused major traffic on the ferry and at the taxi stand. The staff was obviously overwhelmed but handled it well, remaining polite and keeping us informed.
