The Destination
The beautiful Methow Valley and Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest both boast an extraordinary explosion of fall colors you shouldn't miss. Visitors enjoy fresh air and panoramic views of the breathtaking scenery, featuring verdant expanses, vibrant wildflowers, crystal-clear streams, and blue skies that stretch on for days. Besides the marvelous scenery of the North Cascades, there is outdoor fun for everyone, from hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding to fly-fishing and boating.

The Digs
Sun Mountain Lodge itself looks to be hewn from the mountaintop on which it sits, owing to the timber-frame construction, vaulted ceilings, colossal fireplaces, and fossil-embedded stone work. Valley View guest rooms include sweeping territorial views of the Methow Valley and the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, and appointed with handmade maple and cherry furniture, coffeemakers, luxurious robes, original artwork, CD players, and wireless Internet connections. You'll also have access to two swimming pools, a private lake, tennis courts, and a number of other activities on this 3,000-acre playground.

The Diversions
Indulge in a peppermint foot scrub or hot river-rock massage at Spa at Sun Mountain, then toast the sunset with a selection from The Wine Cellar's extensive collection of Northwest wines. Explore the extensive running, hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking trails. Finish the evening with a horse-drawn wagon ride to Sun Mountain's rustic and hearty Cowboy Dinner, or head to Wolf Creek Bar & Grill or the Dining Room.

  • The lodge was stunningly beautiful and the food served at The Dining Room and Wolf Creek Bar were both unequivocally fantastic... We completely unplugged, went for a hike and enjoyed the beautiful scenery Winthrop had to offer.

  • Loved, loved, loved this place. The weather was clear and crisp. The food was great. The bathrooms were beautiful. There was just a magical atmosphere.
