The Destination
At Seattle's Pike Place Market, the warm and welcoming aroma of fresh-brewed coffee lingers in the air. It's faint at first, but grows stronger as you approach the area's famous coffee shops. Visitors can catch a cappella street performances, sample a bite here and a taste there while meandering among the local food stands, or take photos with Rachel—a life-size bronze pig and the market's unofficial mascot. The Market sits on a hill that tumbles down toward the Puget Sound waterfront, one of Seattle's loveliest settings.

The Digs
Pensione Nichols, situated in a historic building overlooking the city's waterfront, welcomes visitors with antique furnishings straight from Sussex, England. The accommodations range from intimate guest rooms to large apartment suites with full kitchens and views of Puget Sound, perfect for taking in the stunning sunset. Each morning, guests wake to a continental breakfast prepared with fresh ingredients from Pike Place Market.

  • The location is ideal, the accommodations were spacious, but best of all was the welcome when we arrived and again in the morning with a beautiful, delicious breakfast.

  • Couldn't ask for a better location or view. The staff was welcoming, the rooms were clean, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept on. I hope to stay there again sometime.
